New Hair Do

So I found out today that Emma is not a very good babysitter :) I left the room for less than 2 minutes and when I returned I found Ava with her new do...Emma was trying to look innocent laying only a few feet away with a chew toy in her mouth, but was totally guilty of licking Ava like a human popsicle. I'm sure they both loved every minute of it though! And of course, being the overly protective, germaphobe mother that I am I rushed Ava upstairs for a bath - after taking this adorable photo :)

Naughty or Nice?!!!

Ava saw Santa for the first time and she was a VERY good girl :) She sat on his lap and had her picture taken without a fuss or a tear! She even put her little hand on top of his - too cute!!! Looks like she made the "nice list" this year!

Six Month Update

Six months has been a big milestone for us! Ava is now eating rice cereal, fruit and vegetable purees, cheerios, little pieces of muffins/breads and drinking from a sippy cup! She's getting to be such a big girl! She's sitting up on her own for longer periods of time, but still falls over on occassion. She has been known to roll over 2 times on a row, but doesn't do it often. She now has 2 teeth and we think there is another on its way! She's becoming just a bit more fearful of strangers and the vacuum, but overall she is still the happiest, most content baby in the world! She's such a precious little girl - We love her more than anything!

Somedays I wish I could just bottle her up and stop her from growing, but then she does something new - It's so fun and exciting that I realize I have to treasure each moment I'm blessed with and look forward to all of the other new and exciting things yet to come.

Gobble Gobble - It's turkey day! Dad made his 1st ever turkey this year - Everyone said it was excellent! Ava tried a teeny tiny piece, but didn't seem to like it much. Instead, she enjoyed a Thanksgiving dinner of squash and rice cereal :) She also tried some of the pumpkin pie filling - she loved it!!!

We're so thankful for our happy, healthy little girl and for all of our wonderful friends and family!
God has truly blessed us and we are grateful!

Great Aunt Jean

While in Iowa we also wanted to visit some of Grandpa Evan's relatives too. Sadly, Great Uncle Jerry passed away the morning we were planning to see him, but we went and spent time with Great Aunt Jean and the rest of the Lukensmeyer family. It was a bittersweet reunion, but Ava seemed to make everyone smile through their tears and sadness.

November 21st-23rd - We spent the weekend visiting relatives in Iowa. Ava finally met Uncle Roland (Ryan's uncle), Colleen, Mindy (Ryan's cousin) & Levi! We had lots of fun hanging out and watching the Iowa vs Minnesota college football game - Uncle Roland turned Ava into a little Hawkeye fan :)

I can't post the website to view them yet because we're keeping it a secret until after Christmas :) Check back in January!

Medical Update

Well, the nebulizer didn't help much and Ava still has that pesky cough. It has now been going on for 20 days, so back to the Dr we went. This time Mommy wasn't going to leave there without an antibiotic!

This is going to sound like I'm a "Momzilla" (and I might be:), but I went to the Dr appt with my videocamera - I had taped Ava's cough the night before so that the Dr could hear what I was talking about. In the end my crazy Momzilla behavior paid off....At first listen the Dr said her lungs sounded pretty clear...then I played the tape...he listened again and heard a slight crackle in the lower left lobe of her lung...the possible start of phnemonia! She also had the start of an ear infection! My poor baby! So now she's on an antibiotic for 3 days - Finally on the road to recovery...We hope!

My New Nebulizer

This darn "cold" just won't go away!!! At Ava's 3rd trip to the Dr since Nov 1st they decided to try using a nebulizer to help with the cough. We have to use it 4 times a day - She is such a trooper - She sits so nicely with her little breathing mask on - My poor baby - It looks sad, but she doesn't seem to mind it!!! Hopefully it helps!

Lazy Sunday afternoon :)

Ava has been battling her first cold for over a week now. She's been quite a trooper and although she is very congested, coughing, sneezing and running a mild fever she has still been her happy and content self.

But when the opportunity came to watch football and snuggle with Dad on the couch - She was all about it....and so was Dad :)

It's snowing already!

Well...winter is here again and it's only the beginning of November!

Ava turned 6 months old this month and started eating rice cereal! We caught the first time on tape - it was pretty funny - She wasn't so sure about it, but now she's eating it like a big girl!!!
